How to Integrate BarTender File Drop With BarTender Cloud
Overview
BarTender File Drop is a companion application to BarTender Cloud that operates similarly to a file integration in BarTender Integration Builder, using folder detection to automate printing without using the BarTender Cloud REST API.
This article will teach you how to set up and configure File Drop, getting you ready to print.

Download and Installation
To get started, download File Drop from the Customer Portal Downloads page. You will need to sign in first.
Before running the installer, you will need the following from your BarTender Cloud tenant:
- Your BarTender Cloud tenant URL (for example, am1.bartendercloud.com).
- Your Organization ID
- A BarTender Cloud User Account with Administrator rights and password-based API access.
- A registered web application that you can create in Administration> API Keys. From that, you will need your:
- Application ID
- Application Secret
Once the installer is finished and authentication is successful, you're ready to launch the application.
Configuring File Drop
Once you launch the application, click the Settings icon at the bottom-right of the app.
File Handling
Select File Handling from the left-hand menu.
Here, you can specify:
- Where File Drop looks for trigger files.
- Where you want PDFs to go after printing (if you select PDF as your printer)
- What you want to happen to your trigger files after they process.
Click Save after you finish.
Print Rules
You will need to configure at least one Print Rule before you can attempt to print.
Start by selecting Print Rules in the Settings menu:
- Click the Add Rule button.
- Choose a Rule Name. Double-click on the field to change it.
- Choose a File Name Pattern. This is the file extension that will tell File Drop which files are trigger files.
- File Drop currently supports CSV, JSON, and XML file types.
- Use the dropdown menu to choose a Printer.
- Specify the Template Link. You can find this in Librarian. Click the Kabob icon next to the template you want to use and select Copy Link.
Click Save to save your rule. Now you're ready to print!
Printing
Simply drop a file matching the extension you specified in your rule watch the magic!
You'll see the process run and complete in the File Drop console.
