Symptoms

When reinstalling BarTender, you run into one of the following errors:

Module C: Program Files\Seagull\BarTender {version}\Components\x64\ShellExtension.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel.

BarTende.exe - System Error: The code execution cannot proceed because mfc140u.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

Solution

The issue lies with the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable. You can resolve the issue by repairing or reinstalling this component.

Repair Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

1. From Control Panel > Programs and Features, right-click Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) and select Change.

2. Click Repair. You may be prompted to reboot your computer after the repair finishes.

Reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

Alternatively, you can download and reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64).
