Enabling Local Network Access For BarTender Cloud in Google Chrome
Symptoms
When attempting to print and/or install the BarTender Print Gateway in BarTender Cloud using Google Chrome, you are prompted with the following:
Applicable to
BarTender Cloud
Google Chrome, browser version 138 and later
Diagnosis
With the release of browser version 138, Google Chrome has rolled out a new permissions prompt: Local Network Access.
Local Network Access restricts the ability of websites to send requests to servers on a user's local network (including servers running locally on the user's machine), requiring the user to grant the site permission before such requests can be made.
If it is not allowed, the BarTender Print Gateway will not be detectable by the BarTender Cloud user interface.
Solution
Accept the Prompt
The preferred solution here is to click Allow when prompted, which will permit Chrome to properly communicate with the Print Gateway.
What to Do If You Clicked Block
If you clicked Block when prompted, you can still enable Local Network Access manually:
- Open Chrome. Type chrome://settings/privacy into your address bar and press Enter.
- Select Site settings.
- Find your BarTender Cloud's tenant URL among the site data and click the Arrow icon on the right to expand the relevant menu.
- Scroll down to find Local network access and use the dropdown menu to select Allow.
- Close the Settings tab.
