Setting Up the Track & Trace Mobile App
Overview
The Track & Trace mobile application serves as a primary interface for executing inventory operations by facilitating the identification, tracking, and state management of inventory assets. Data captured through the mobile app is transmitted to a centralized platform, where it can be analyzed and visualized through the web console to generate operational insights, support supply chain optimization, and enable data-driven decision-making.
This article will provide a guide on how to setup the Track & Trace mobile app.

Information

- Open the app.
- Enter your Track & Trace account credentials.
- Tap Login.
Connecting an RFID Reader to Your App
Use the following steps to connect a reader to your device using Bluetooth. If you are not using a Bluetooth-enabled reader, the device must be physically connected to perform scans through the application.
Open your phone's Bluetooth settings to pair and connect the RFID reader to your device.
Open the BarTender Track & Trace mobile app and log in.
Tap the icon to access devices.
Tap Connect a new device (ensure Bluetooth is enabled).
After connecting, tap the Reader Details icon.
Scanning Assets
Before you can work with new asset types, they must be included in the Track & Trace inventory data and referenced in an inventory list, which in turn is uploaded to the Track & Trace system. Only then can they be scanned and processed by Track & Trace.
Each time an asset is scanned via its RFID tag, the scan event includes metadata such as location, time, and asset status, which guides the life cycle of the asset.
On-site operators can use an RFID reader connected to the mobile app to scan assets in order to:
Search for an asset on-site.
Check detailed information about an asset on-site.
Register inbound asset upon reception at a location.
Register an outbound asset upon shipping from a location.
Update an asset zone at a location.
Synchronization
When using the mobile app, users do not directly interact with the server, unlike when working through the web console. This means any changes made in the app must subsequently be synchronized with the cloud to take effect. If the user exits without syncing, all data will be lost. To synchronize the app:
- Open the BarTender Track & Trace mobile app and log in.
- Tap Sync to send all fully read (100%) orders to the server.
- To synchronize a specific order, select it from the list and tap Sync to submit its data.
