Symptom

When entering the product key code (PKC) for BarTender activation, you may receive the following error message:

The activation Server returned the following error.

The product key code is invalid.

BarTender 2019 and later

Solution

Make sure you are using the PKC. This is a 16-character code made up of letters and numbers, following the format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. You can easily identify the PKC because it will usually starts with the letter W.

Make sure not to confuse it with the Support Number, which cannot be used for activation and typically starts with the number 2.

If you're sure you are using the PKC and still receive this error message, it most likely indicates an input error. It is recommended that you copy and paste the PKC whenever possible to avoid typos. If this is not possible, double-check the code to make sure it has been entered correctly.
