What’s New
- Multiple Columns on Intelligent Forms: Intelligent Forms can now contain one or two columns per page, making the forms easier for operators to use at print time and allowing users to take advantage of larger screen sizes in landscape mode.
- Move Print Jobs Between Printers Using the Actions API: A new action has been added to the Print Control Actions in the Actions API. This new actions enables a user to move a print job from one printer to another using the API.
- Purging Temporary System Files: Temporary system files are now automatically purged after seven days so that system performance is not impacted by internal temporary data accumulation.
- Circle Graphs on the Usage Page Update: The circle graphs on the Usage page now display more information, including breaking storage data out by Print History and Librarian. There is also a link to the Print Settings page where an administrator can manage the history retention policy.
Minor Fixes
This release includes a series of refinements that contribute to overall platform reliability and consistency:
- When a template contains an embedded image in PDF format, the label no longer prints blank, with the PDF image and any other objects on the label not displayed in the print.
- When a template contains a PDF image on a layer different than other objects, or when a PDF image is used on the same layer but moved backwards/to the back, the PDF object is not visible when printed and the other objects on the label can be either missing or printed the wrong size.

- Multi-Page Forms in Intelligent Form Builder: Break down complex forms into easy-to-use, manageable sections with Intelligent Form Builder's new multi-page feature.
- History Retention UI Updated: The options available in the History Retention Policy section of the Print Settings page are now determined by tier. In addition, custom date ranges are available for viewing history information, and temporary system files are automatically cleaned up to keep storage usage stable.
- Print Control Actions in the Actions API: Nine new actions for controlling the print queue have been added to the available actions for the Actions API.
Minor Fixes
This release includes a series of refinements that contribute to overall platform reliability and consistency:
- When setting up BarTender Print Connector for Dynamics 365 Business Central in a browser set to display in German, the setup no longer stalls when Test Connection is clicked.
- Printing a full-page size label whose data entry option is set to Every Copy now prints the correct form for each label, rather than repeating the initial form entry for every label.
- The Usage page now displays monthly print data earlier than July 2025 in the Printed Items view, and displays the correct dates in the Monthly Details view.
- When uploading or downloading a label that contains a table object with a VB script tied to it, the script is no longer reset to the default values but instead retains the changes made.
- When printing a label containing a conditionally printed object, the object now prints correctly on the label when the print is initiated from Print Preview.
- In the Test Credentials section of the API Keys page, the notice now correctly indicates that the access token is valid for 10 days.
- When joining an Excel database with another database (for example, a text database) using an inner join, the join is now made successfully and no error message displays.
- In Online Designer, using Ctrrl+[ or Ctrl+] to rotate the label and change its orientation now results in the new orientation being saved with the file and displayed when the file is closed and opened again.
- The Printers page (Administration > Printers) now displays printer information correctly. Previously, printers were entirely missing or displayed incomplete information.
- Email notifications for workflow states and transitions are now sent correctly rather than simply resending the initial state or transition status.

- Add images to the Intelligent Form. These images display on the form, but are not printed with the label.

Minor Fixes
This release includes a series of refinements that contribute to overall platform reliability and consistency:
- When a Search and Replace Transform is configured for any data source in a Table Object that pulls data from a database, The transform's settings are now saved rather than reverting to the default setting.
- When a BarTender template pulls data from an Amazon RDS MySQL database and an Excel Online database file is connection with an Inner Join condition, clicking on the template to print or preview it in Print Console now creates the print job.
- REST API print jobs that do not complete and where the printer names contain a + (plus) character, no longer appear as Preparing or Cancelled in Print History.

- Linked Printers Access Is Now Tied to Licensing: The ability to use the Linked Printers feature is now tied to the BarTender Cloud licensing tiers. Access to the Linked Printers feature is now dependent on the user's subscription tier.
- Intelligent Forms for Automation and Enterprise Tiers: BarTender Cloud now enables Automation and Enterprise users to access the new Intelligent Forms Designer from the Librarian environment. The new forms enable you to build a simple form with basic functionality using predefined fields that can be manipulated at print time. A single form can be reused across multiple labels and printers.
- File Drop Integration to Cloud Printing: BarTender Cloud has added file drop printing, enabling users to place CSV, XML and JSON files in a designated folder and have the files automatically printed. File Drop Printing is a new companion tool that can be downloaded and run alongside BarTender Cloud. It connects directly to the cloud.
- Enterprise Tier for BarTender Cloud: BarTender Cloud now offers an Enterprise tier, ideal for large businesses in highly regulated industries.

- Print Gateway printers no longer display as Ready when offline. In addition, print jobs sent to offline Print Gateway printers using the API now log in BarTender Cloud Print History.
- When searching in the Record Picker using the search bar, the filtered records are now displayed unselected, and the Quantity column remains unset (zero) until the user manually selects the record.
- Opening an existing design in the Online Designer by clicking the Open Existing Design button the Document Design dialog, now opens the selected document in the Online Designer.

- External Authentication Expanded: External authentication has been moved to the Administration > Security section of BarTender and expanded to include Entra ID and other OIDC providers.
- Multi-Table Support for Microsoft Business Connector: The Microsoft Business Central connector now pulls data from multiple tables, even if related tables have no matching rows.
- Link Directly to Eligible Printers: You can now link directly to weblink-enabled printers from the Printers page in BarTender Cloud, bypassing the Print Gateway entirely when you use these printers.
Minor Fixes
This release includes a series of refinements that contribute to overall platform reliability and consistency:
- Reprinting a label containing a multi-line text object where <CR><LF> is used to separate text no longer causes an error.
- The security settings for Export Options in native PDF now work correctly for any language set as the browser's first preferred language.
- The Protected Actions (e.g., edit file, add notes) specified in Export Options for native PDF are now applied when the Encryption option is enabled.
- Connecting to Azure SQL from a port other than the default no longer fails.
- After changing the company name on the Global Settings page, BarTender Cloud now updates the name on the login page.
- The Test Print function now displays a single sample label when the Test Print button is clicked, rather than the entire database.

- Seagull Logos v1.1 Font Updated The Seagull Logos v1.1 font now includes two new symbols: the EPC icon (the 7 key) and the RFID icon (the 8 key).
Minor Fixes
This release includes a series of refinements that contribute to overall platform reliability and consistency:
- Labels containing symbols from the Seagull: Medical Devices v1.3 font now print correctly.
- In Designer, fonts no longer appear multiple times in the font selection dropdown.
- When printing a label connected to a database and using non-printer fonts, once the driver is updated to an 11.8 version all objects on the label now print, and print in the correct position.
- Remaining idle on the Print page for a period of time no longer causes the Printer field to switch from the selected printer to the default printer.
- If a label contains an End of Text («ETX»), BarTender Cloud now prints the label without displaying an error.
- When printing a label connected to an Excel database and using the Record Picker, the resulting Data Entry Form no longer displays a second set of headings with no data.

- Print a PDF Directly from the Actions API
PDF files stored in Librarian can now be printed using PrintPDFAction in the Actions API. Printing using the API includes the ability to control the number of copies printed.

- The copyright notice for Print Gateway now displays correct information.
- When opening BarTender Cloud Designer, the program now only opens the local session.

- Configurable Printer Fallback
Automation subscription users can now designate a redirect printer as a failsafe for an API-sourced print if the Print Gateway hosting the primary printer is unavailable. If this happens, print jobs automatically reroute to the designated redirect printer on an alternate Print Gateway.
- Enhanced Label Alignment Controls
New controls on the Print page allow for precise manipulation of horizontal and vertical offsets, enabling accurate label placement directly from the Print page.
- Updated Media Stock Catalog
Newly supported stock types from Zebra Technologies have been added to BarTender Cloud's catalog while outdated entries have been removed to maintain relevance and clarity.

What’s New
Enhanced RFID Field Visibility. RFID templates and fields are clearly identified in the Template Assistant, improving usability during template design and validation.
Updated Home Page. Usability and workflow improvements on the Home page support faster, more intuitive use.
Expanded Error Reporting. Error messages for the DataBaseOverride method provide more context about the errors to assist users in quickly identifying and addressing issues.
Modified Print Engine. Updates to the print engine deliver the following improvements:
- Increased reliability when recovering interrupted print jobs
- Enhanced visibility into database performance during printing
- Ability to disable PDF generation in print history for streamlined processing

New Features
Usage Page Updated. The Usage page in the Administration section of BarTender Cloud has been modified to contain more specific information. The new page includes up-to-date information on the user's printing and storage activities, as well as what the limits of the user's subscription are.
Print Engine Modified. BarTender's print engine has been modified so that the administrator can control whether the print history can be saved without generating PDFs. Overall printing performance has also been increased. Users should notice smoother printing experience.
Install Print Gateway on Multiple Computers Simultaneously. BarTender Cloud Administrators can now use the BarTender Cloud REST API to install the Print Gateway service on multiple computers simultaneously.
Amazon Transparency Labeling. Seagull now enables users to print Amazon Transparency labels in BarTender Cloud with the early release of the Amazon Transparency Labeling add-on. At present, the add-on availability is limited, but will get a wider release later this year. Users interested in enrolling in the early access program for Amazon Transparency should contact their sales representative.
Minor Fixes
- Updated BarTender Cloud Designer so a user who has a template locked and requests to update that same document does not receive an error but instead updates the template.
- Using the BarTender Cloud Security REST API to access the following endpoints no longer returns a 404 Not Found error: Get Information About 2FA Support (User), Get a List of Roles (Roles), Create a Group (Group), Delete a Group (Group), and Get All Groups (Groups).

New Features
Print Gateway Now Updated Automatically. The Print Gateway has been modified to automatically install the latest updates, though the user can still choose to update manually if they choose. By default, Auto-Update is turned off.
Print Engine Optimized. BarTender's print engine has been modified so that the print history can now be saved without generating PDFs, you can use Microsoft's Print to PDF to generate PDF files, and overall printing performance has been increased. Users should notice smoother printing experience.
BarTender Cloud Print Portal Service Updated. The BarTender Cloud Print Portal service has been updated to run on Windows Server 2025 to keep BarTender Cloud up to date, and to ensure better availability of the service.
Minor Fixes
- Updated the BarTender Cloud Fonts page to load correctly after the font ユータカラヤ.ttf has been uploaded.
- Updated the BarTender Sign-In page so that it works correctly when using a Chrome browser in the Thai language.
- Modified the BarTender Cloud Fonts page so that custom fonts that have been uploaded are available to users without administrator credentials.
- Adjusted API printing so that when sending a print job to a Honeywell printer using the Direct Thermal print method, the printer retains that method instead of switching to Thermal Transfer mode.

New Features
New Announcement Banner System to Keep Users Informed. BarTender Cloud now includes a dismissible banner that displays on the BarTender Cloud Home page to communicate critical information. For example, the banner can be used to alert users when an updated version of BarTender Cloud is due to be released, when service down time is required and how long that will be, or anything that could disrupt workflow.
Print Engine Optimized. BarTender's print engine has been modified so that the Cloud service is now able to receive more print jobs without interruption. While these changes do not affect the user interface, users should notice smoother printing experience.
Minor Fixes
- Ensured the calculations for the Space Used graph on the Usage page are correctly reported for total usage and maximum capacity.
- Updated the Search API to pull metadata from the latest version of the target BTW file rather than pulling it from the first version of the file.
- Corrected the Spanish translation of "Test Credentials" on the API Keys page.
- Corrected the Spanish, German, and French translations of "The business rules are built-in" on the Select a Template page.
- Modified the Select Records dialog to select only those files matching the search parameters when a search is performed in the dialog.
- Enhanced the Epson CW C8000u printer driver to include support for Portrait 180 and Landscape 180 orientations.

New Features
Enhanced Notifications for Expiring Subscription. BarTender Cloud’s notifications for expiring subscriptions have been enhanced to facilitate subscription renewal and minimize the chance of downtime due to a subscription lapse. Notifications now display 60 days prior to the expiration of a subscription, and a warning displays after a subscription has expired but before the ability to print from BarTender Cloud is blocked (in 30 days) or user data is deleted (in 90 days).
Printers Now Grouped in the Printer Dropdown. BarTender Cloud now groups your printers in the Printer dropdown on the Print page. Printers are sorted into one of four categories to make it easier to locate the printer you want. A user can choose a favorite printer to appear at the top of the list and an administrator can choose a default printer for the organization, which appears at the top of the Printer list if a user doesn’t select a default.
Print Gateway Settings Page Updated. The Add New Print Server and Access Token buttons have been repositioned on the Print Gateway Settings page and Add New Print Server renamed. In addition, the User Access Token dialog has been modified so you can no longer paste a new access token into the dialog. You can still, however, copy the existing access token. Seagull recommends that you update the Print Gateway service to use the new Print Gateway Settings page.
External Authentication Expanded. BarTender Cloud's external authentication feature has been expanded to enable administrators to authenticate users with PingID instead of using BarTender Cloud’s own authenticator.
Get a Document’s Data Source Information. Using the Actions API, you can now see all the database fields used in a BarTender document by using the BTXML GetFormatProperties tag. The GetFormatProperties tag returns all database fields (text data, Excel, or database) used in a document.
Updated Features
Google Sheets Re-Integrated. When working in the Designer, you can now connect your document to a Google Sheets database. Because of security policy changes made by Google, the connection with Google Sheets was temporarily interrupted.
Language Display in iOS Updated. Standardized the language display in the iOS BarTender app for Simplified Chinese when using Singapore region settings.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue when using a custom font with the extension .ttf or .otf in a document and printing it using Bartender Cloud, the custom font did not appear in the printed output and was replaced with a different font. The preview of the document was incorrect as well.
- Fixed an issue when editing a template in the BarTender Cloud Designer. Significant lag was sometimes experienced in the Designer, including delays when moving a mouse, selecting an object in the template, and right-clicking an item.
- Fixed an issue where using BarTender Cloud to print multiple copies of a label using a non-Seagull printer driver, print times were much longer. The problem did not occur when printing two or fewer copies, or when using a Seagull print driver.
- Fixed an issue when a BarTender template had a text object with data type Date and attempted to set a Range Checking Transform on the object to "Get first valid date from named data source," BarTender Cloud Designer stopped responding and eventually the displayed a blank screen.
- Fixed an issue where creating and modifying documents in BarTender Cloud Designer after installing the 2024.10 update became extremely slow when connected to an Excel Online database.
- Fixed an issue when importing data items using the "Connect to data > Imported Data Items" function. When documents were created in a version of BarTender Cloud prior to v2024.04, a "Data no longer matches template" error occurred.
- See Updated Feature above. BarTender and BarTender Cloud Designer were blocked from using Google Sheets. Previously authorized connections were showing unverified.

New Features
Automatic Token Refresh for Print Gateway. When you install the Print Gateway, the Print Gateway Token is automatically created. This token enables you to send and receive information through the Print Gateway. BarTender Cloud now automatically refreshes the token when needed so you no longer have to refresh it manually.
In order to activate the new automatic token refresh, you must reinstall the Print Gateway after upgrading BarTender Cloud. If you don't, you will need to continue manually refreshing the token.

Infrastructure Scaling Improvements. Additional infrastructure scaling improvements have been made to BarTender Cloud to improve caching, data storage, health-status monitoring, etc.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud when using a BarTender document with a Number Input Box control (e.g., Copies, Serials) on the Data Entry Form there was always a digit in that control that needed to be removed before entering a value in the Number Input Box control when it should have been blank.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud where uninstalling the BarTender Cloud Print Gateway service did not remove remote printers from the printer list in the BarTender Cloud Print Console.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud where the Print Gateway was failing to release memory when it was installed along with third-party printers.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud where clicking the barcode button in the BarTender Cloud Designer while the browser was set to Portuguese (Portugal) caused an error that prevented adding a barcode to the document.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud where the SpGetDBVersion query was being run excessively, contributing to SQL server slowdowns and crashes.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud when attempting to print a document which had a Record Picker data entry form, where all records on the page were already selected when the data entry form displayed, regardless of the Queried Records selection in the Print dialog.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud when accessing the Print dialog from the Print Console, not all printers were displaying in the Printer drop-down.
December 2024 Update Fixes
These fixes will be rolled out December 19 and 20.

Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud with Record Picker/Select Records where if the document being searched was linked to an Azure SQL database that had a blank line in any record, no records were returned. In addition, all records were being selected in the Select Records dialog no matter the setting selected.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud when a BarTender template was using a table object with an embedded database, the template would take too long to print.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud with user password reset and deactivation.

New Features
- Improved user interface. BarTender Cloud has a new, simplified global navigation system that makes it easier to access all of BarTender Cloud from any location inside the application. Changes include:
- New color and logo.
- New BarTender Cloud menu from which you can access all part of BarTender Cloud for which you have the necessary permissions.
- New Profile menu enabling you to go to the My Profile page.
- Enhanced breadcrumbs.
- Spaces. BarTender Cloud uses spaces (i.e., repositories) to organize files, apply published workflows, and create additional storage options to better manage content for specific users and teams.
- Workflows. The new Workflow Designer enbles you to accelerate your label design, QA, and approval process, saving time and manpower. A workflow is a series of steps that define the life cycle of a BarTender Cloud document or other file. It defines the states and transitions of the process. BarTender Cloud includes three workflow templates to help you build the workflows you need.
- The Manage Files view is now called Librarian. In addition to the name change to better align BarTender Cloud with BarTender on-prem, Librarian also give you the ability to upload the following non-cloud-based databases: Excel files, CSV files, TXT files, XML files, and JSON files.
- New Home page. BarTender Cloud now includes a Home page you can use to quickly access several BarTender Cloud features, as well as get an overview of your organization's print activity. When you log into BarTender Cloud, you are automatically taken to this page.
- User uploaded fonts (Font Manager). Use the new BarTender Cloud Fonts page to upload and manage custom TrueType fonts (.ttf) and OpenType fonts (.otf). You can use these fonts with your .btw files and documents created or edited with the Online Designer.
- Print-Time Overrides. Administrators can now enable users to change some default print settings for select printers at the time they print a document.
- Designer Improvements. BarTender Cloud now enables you to have multiple documents open in the Designer simultaneously, giving you the ability to work on more than one document at a time. You can also upload images and databases to the Librarian then link to those images and databases in the Online Designer.
- Print-Time Record Selection Improvements. The Select Records dialog has been re-designed so that it loads and selects database records for large data sets faster than before. The dialog also presents records in a paginated table format that enables you to select which page of records you want to work with and define how many records appear on each page.
- New API URLs and new print history endpoints. The four existing Printers URLs have been changed and there are now four new URLs. The original endpoints are still active and available and there should be no disruption with existing API calls. In addition, three new Print History endpoints have been added to the BarTender Cloud REST API, enabling you to retrieve print history information through the API.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud where the thumbnail image for a label was blank after rolling back to a previous revision of a label until the page was refreshed.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud where image thumbnails were not displayed correctly when using Google Chrome. The thumbnails now display correctly on the Librarian and Printer Console pages with the latest Chrome version, 128.0.6613.120.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud where adding a barcode in BarTender Cloud Designer failed if using the Portuguese (Português) for Portugal language.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud when creating a new document where you could not access the Template Image option in the New Document Wizard.
- Fixed an issue in BarTender Cloud when accessing the Cloud Designer with a Firefox browser, the ability to paste text from the clipboard to the Designer was unavailable.

- Migrated from Auth0 to BarTender Identity Service. Auth0 will remain for a short time to allow for a smooth transition. Tokens will need to be updated for all BarTender Cloud REST API calls.

- Enable authorized users to define a printer within a hierarchy tree.
- Allow authorized users to view, edit, organize, and manage information and settings of one or more printers.
