Printing Large Batch Cancelled

Hi,

 

We are printing large batches of labels using BTXML. If one of the labels within the batch has an error in the data, for example an incorrect check digit on a barcode, the whole batch is put into a Cancelled status. We would prefer that the valid labels in the batch were printed - is this an option?

  Have you tried tightening up the validation rules so that an incorrect check digit won't cause such a problem?  Could it be that the data sourcing on the barcode is including the check digit in the database field instead of discarding it and having BarTender generate the check digit at print time.

   

  Are you using Batch Maker or is the XML be produced by some other system?  One option would be to produce the "batches" in separate XML files, so that one failed request doesn't bring down the remainder.
