Data being appended to label field in error

I have a drop down data entry linked to a database field. I have set it to go to the next form if a specific entry is select ('New entry ...') when a button is pressed. Each form has a separate label template and the fields are mapped to named data sources. In the first instance these are database fields and in the second instance they are embedded data.

All works fine except the label appends 'New entry ...' after the embedded data entered in the second form. I've tried adding clear form data but to no avail. 

Any ideas to stop this happening?

  Dont link the Data Entry box (and label field) on Template 2 to the field that contains the "New Entry..." on Template 1. Add a new text item on Temp 2 and link the data entry box to that
