Splitting Barcode back into 2 excel cells

Is there a way of reversing a barcode (code 39) back into to excel cells? I am creating one barcode by importing from 2 columns (A&B) using substrings. My customer then wants to blip the barcode with a USB reader and to reverse the action, by putting the original data, back into its originals cells. Is this something that can be done?

  You would need to program your scanner to achieve this and so you would need a device that has some "intelligence" so that you can configure it to suit.

  Alternatively, if allowable, you could add a Tab between each string so when you scan into field one the data before the tab goes into the field the cursor is in then the tab triggers and the cursor moves to the next field and populates that
