Problem With Maintenance Task

Since almost a month we have the problem that the maintenance task is not running.

This has two consequences:

 

- No backup

- No purge

 

When I to start tasks manually I  always get the message:  "A maintenance Task is currently running. Please try again later."

Our version:

 

Bartender 2016 R1 (Enterprise Automation)

Local data base (Express).

 

Our local vendor says we have to upgrade to 2016 R2.

But since I cannot create backup of the database I want to solve this first.

 

Any idea?

  I cleaned up the message database step by step.

  Currently we keep data for 4 days.

  Now the automatic job runs fine again.

  Hi

  We have same issue with R7 we are not able to see nothing in Lasr run time or last status.

  We have same issue on 2016 R3, with maintenance job not running.
  
  How to do manual clean up ?
