Check Digit Requirement In Hibc Code 128

Hello, I am fairly new to BarTender and to barcodes in general but we have been creating HIBC Code 128 barcodes for about a year now with a piece of "homemade" software.  Our customer has indicated that by default the Check Digit is a requirement for HIBC Code 128 barcodes which I see is enabled by default in BarTender.  However, the Hide Check Digit is checked by default and cannot be unchecked in the human readable portion and this is a requirement from our customer's perspective.  My question is whether the check digit is required per the HIBC standard in the human readable portion?  If it is required as my customer says it is then why can't this check box be available to be unchecked?

 

Any help or advice is much appreciated.  I have spent countless hours with VB Script trying to re-create the check digit in human readable portion and have come up short.

  Hi BarTender has integrated HIBC 128 primary and secondary barcode, and in that barcodes HIBC check digit is Visible.

  Note that HIBC check digit is different from Code128's integrated check digit.

  The hide check digit option refers to the Code 128 symbology check digit, not the HIBC standard's check digit.
