Bartender 11.8 install. Had old bartender installed and when installing new 11.8 after install and entering product key I get error: Cannot activate a node-locked Professional edition license on a license service that own other licenses
fyi it appeared to uninstall old software but???

It sounds like you are installing the Workstation edition. The Workstation licence will not work in Admin Console that has any other licences already installed/activated in it, even a Trial version and so you need to make sure that you deactivate these (from Administration Console>Licencing) first before activating the Workstation licence.

You need to install the old copy back on, then deactivate via Bartender>Help>Licensing Wizard
Once done, install the new version back on and activate the new license
