Rs232 comms help

Hey there, I’m currently trying to replace an existing datamax printer with a Honeywell. The new Honeywell came with bartender as the supplied software, so I’d like to see if what I want to do is feasible before I purchase a package. The existing printer has circa 20 variables sent to it over rs232. It gets sent one, pauses for 250ms then goes to the next variable. In order these variables populate dynamic fields on a label. Once all variables are accounted for, it then prints the label. The printer will print as many copies of the label (by hitting the button on the front) and will keep that data set until it is over written. Is this something I can do with bartender? Thanks

  Difficult to say without all the information to be honest. Some parts you can definitely do whilst other parts are dependent on the printer itself, such as " printer will print as many copies of the label (by hitting the button on the front) " where you can set the printer to print the same label until cancelled but you may also need to use the pause between printing option so it prints a label and then pauses so the user presses the pause button to print the next one, however not all devices have this option.

  The Integration Builder application can accept Serial/RS232 input data and use that as a trigger to print a label so maybe worthwhile checking that out
