Setting up a designer PC on network with Server running Enterprise Bartender
I have installed the Enterprise copy on a server and I want to be able to develop templates, test print and possibly interface with the production activity on the server from the developing PC. My questions are: 1. Is all this possible? 2. What modules should I install on the development PC? 3. Do I have to install the printer on the development PC since it is already on the server? 4. If I have to install on the PC, does it count against the licensed printer count?
I have not worked with the DB yet and just did the install on the server using local account access defaults.

1. Enterprise / Automation versions are licenced by number of printers and not users and so you can install them on any number of PCs all linked back to the server running the Licence Server app. So yes that it possible.
2. Depends what you are doing basically. If I dont need Licence Server or Print Portal, then I normally just use the standard install option even if I am not going to use Batch Maker or Integration Builder etc. On a client / shop floor PC then I maybe more restrictive and just install Designer and Print Station for example but for a computer used for developing then there is probably no harm installing the default applications.
3. I would say yes to this especially if you are using a label printer and so then BarTender will load the defaults for that unit, such as max print width and the device fonts, and so you cannot design a label out of spec for your printer.
4. If it is a network printer and you are connecting via the same network driver or else a driver shared from the server then this should not cause double counting with regards the licence.
