It might be a problem on the actual installation or something related with your network folder. Could you try the following?

    1. If you save your document on a local folder, do you get the same delay?

    2. Is there any dump file being created when BarTender attempts to open your documents but fails? When BarTender crashes, it will automatically create a dump file in the C:\ProgramData\Seagull\BarTender\Dump directory, of the form BarTend_xxxx.dmp, where xxxx is a number up to 9999.

    3. How exactly are you opening your documents (double clicking on them, from the "File>Open..." option on BarTender...)?

    Hello Fernando,

My apologies for not getting back to this sooner.  Been fighting other fires.  I have rebuilt the 2012 test server again and have only installed Bartender this time.  The problem still occurs.  Here are some answers to your questions and a few other details I have been able to uncover.

    1) No delay.  The program seems to be able to function (open, close, save, edit) like normal.

    2) The program is not crashing and there is no dump file being created.  The directory is not there either.

    3) All of my testing has been done from inside the Bartender program.  Normally from the 'Open' icon at the top but have also used the File->Open.

Here are few things that I have been able to discover on the clean server install with only Bartender.  The local format open/close/edit works until I try and open a format on a network drive.  The first network format will open with no problems but when I try and open a second format the program takes up 99%-100% of the CPU and the 'Not Responding' shows up.  Eventually after the long delay, the program finally opens the format.  After this one open, all functions within the program start taking the long delay (editing, closing,..).  The CPU then never goes below 99-100% for hours.  At this point the program will close with no problem and the CPU resources are released.  I can then recreate the exact same scenario (local works, network freezes, close and restart) again and again.

Do you have sub-folders on the networked folder where you store your BarTender documents?

In any case, we would need to take a closer look to this issue, would you mind sending us an email to our Tech support department? You'll find our contact details on the below webpage:

    Hello Fernando,

Yes, we do have sub-folder on the network share.

I submitted an email to the tech group like you asked on 6/27.  I still haven't heard anything or gotten any response back yet.

    Everyone else:

Is anyone else running or testing Bartender 10.0 on Server 2012?  What has been your experience so far?  Is it a physical or virtual machine?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    Rob
