    Hello,

Here are two training videos that can help you start a new template and connect it to an Excel Spreadsheet:

    http://www.seagullscientific.com/label-software/training-video-(getting-started).aspx

    http://www.seagullscientific.com/label-software/training-video-(reading-data-from-database).aspx

Also, here is a video showing you how to design query prompt on your database in order to filter the data you want to print:

    http://www.seagullscientific.com/label-software/training-video-(selecting-records-from-a-database-at-print-time).aspx

These should help you get started and setting up your data the way you want to.

    Regards,

I can not get the 'data sources' tab to appear on the program. I believe I know what to do once I have this. How do I get this window to pop up?

    Hello,

You should be able to make it appear from the "View>Toolbox>Data Sources" menu option.

If it doesn't appear you probably are not working with the latest release for your BarTender software (we had such an issue in an early release), please visit the below webpage and download and install the latest one for your version:

    http://www.seagullscientific.com/label-software/service-releases.aspx

Are you able to find it after updating your software?

    Regards.

I have been watching this training video: http://www.seagullscientific.com/label-software/training-video-(reading-data-from-database).aspx

At point 4:29 in the video it talks about how the connected should have populated with information for the spreadsheet. After following the steps, the spreadsheet data did not populate nor do I have multiple barcodes.

    What am i missing here?

The text boxes that I want to contain field 1 etc. are highlighted in purple and say "Sheet1$.Field 1".

    Hello Mddbaker,

When a BarTender document is connected to a database you can activate/deactivate the preview of its data on the label. In your case you only need to activate it.

To do so simply click on the small "database" icon you'll find at the bottom of the design space, just over the "Data Entry Form" and "Template" tabs. Currently this icon would look as a small database with a red cross over it.

Also remember that Excel is not a proper database and, among other things, doesn't support multiple connection data access. This means that if you've got the Excel sheet opened on Excel (or any other application or user is accessing it) BarTender won't be able to preview or use its data.

*We strongly recommend using a proper database, such as MS Access, SQL, or even a text file; all of which do support multiple connection data access.

    Regards.
