Bar Codes Not Printing From Data File
Hello,
We had Bar Tender running on an older Windows XP machine. That machine used some software that you input your values into, hit print, it would then input those values into a temp.dat file and then the Bar Tender template would pop up and use the values from that .dat file to print out the bar code with the values you provided in the initial software. It was using Bar Tender 5.41 and it always worked great.
The computer's hard drive has been failing so I built the users a new machine with Windows 7 as the operating system (the only OS I can use). I had a backup of all of the software, files, and such from the old machine in regards to printing bar codes. I loaded up everything on the Windows 7 machine and got the label printer to communicate.
The issue that I am having is that it will not print the bar codes using the .dat data file anymore. That .dat file is the same as it was on the XP machine. If I launch up our bar tender template and un-check print from data file, it will print out the template just fine. If I leave the print from data file checked, it will just print out the few parts of the template that are not linked to any data file.
What could be the cause of this? I am using the same 5.41 version on the Windows 7 machine. Could it be a version issue with the OS?
Thanks

BarTender is Windows 7 compatible from v9.20 onwards, so this version is way out of date. Maybe the drivers too if using comparably old Seagull drivers. You could try disabling options via the "Performance" tab in the Print dialog, but really you should look into getting a new license for the new PC/OS.
