Custom Date Repeating
we are using a custom date in our barcode of the format yyjjjHHmmss
when we use the print station, we occasionally get duplicate barcode numbers.
we have tried repeated to print the barcodes as fast as we can and we can never get the barcode to print within the same second so it is hard to reproduce this.
is there a way to make sure that we don't print dupicate numbers using a format like this?
we are using version
Bartender professional

What printer make and model are you printing to and what printer driver have you installed for this printer? I'm thinking that you might be able to use the internal printer clock instead which might help to get rid of the issue.
Why do you not add a serial number to your bar code, such as e.g. yyjjjHHmmss-SSSS, where SSSS is the serial number? This way, if still duplicate bar codes appear, you will know that it is not because they're being sent within the same second.

sorry it took a while to get back to this.
we are using a zebra - ZM400 printer
print driver is the ZebraZM400 (203 dpi) - ZPL print driver
I changed the barcode to use the PRINTER's CLOCK but now it will not let me set my custom format of yyjjjhhmmss.
I need exactly 11 chars for my application to work correctly so I can't add another unique sequence to the barcode
is there a way to use a custom format when the printer clock is selected?

Hello Russell,
Unfortunately that is not the case, note that only formats supported by the printer's language can be used when using a Real Time Clock (RTC).
Have you tried using several different data sources in the same object, all using RTC but each taking care of a small part of the time format you need? At print time these separate data sources will appear concatenated as one single value.

I will try to build a barcode from multiple datasources to get my format.
is there any other suggest you have besides using the RTC on the printer to make sure we get a unique timestamp?

Only using the RTC will you be able to get an actual time stamp corresponding to the actual printing time. If you don't use the RTC you'll get the time at which you "sent" the print job.
A different possibility would be to send a separate print job for each label to print, but you would need to use some sort of automation that sends many print jobs of a single label each (one copy). Also note that with the latter method performance will also be reduced.
