Bitmap Import Issues

    Hello,

    1. Could you let me know what exact printer brand and model are you working with? If it's a thermal printer we do support, please make sure you are working with the latest Seagull driver (v7.3.3), which can be downloaded from the below webpage:

    http://www.bartenderbarcodesoftware.com/drivers/windows-printer-drivers-download.aspx

    2. When importing images to your BarTender document, are you using an "Embedded" image or are you linking to it through a variable path?

    3. What exact version and build of BarTender are you working with?

In general when having image importing issues, especially when it requires resizing, we do recommend resizing the actual image before importing it to BarTender. This way you avoid forcing BarTender to actually resize the image each time it prints (BarTender saves the original image instead of the resized result).

All images were exported from CorelDRAW at the actual intended print size, 300dpi to match the printer capabilities.  This was in response to a previous forum support question y'all answered very helpfully, thank you.

    3.  BarTender is

    Enterprise Automation Trial

    10.0 SR4

    2868

    Windows 7 Professional [x64]. SP1

    2.  Embedded.  I click the toolbar icon droplist select Embedded Pictures From File... and navigate to the path where the PNG is located.

    1.  The printer is (as reported by Printer Maestro)

    Printer:    Zebra GX430t - ZPL
    Port:       USB002

    Product:    Zebra ZPL-II Driver
    Version:    7.3.3

    Build Target:   x64
    Build Date:    5/2/2013, 6:49 PM

Copyright (c) 1998-2013 Seagull Scientific, Inc.

This is the last day of our trial and I don't think I can approve the purchase unless I see resolutions.  So I might be without a version to attempt fixes on.  (although the expired trial version will probably be good enough to test bitmap import issues.)

Okay, we got the issue resolved on the support phone line.

The printer cache was acting up.

I had "Automatically clear cache on exit per BarTender session" selected, but apparently that wasn't enough to resolve cache-related issues.

In addition to explicitly clearing the printer cache we also turned off "Allow graphic caching" and "Allow template caching".  One of these three steps resolved the issue.

What should that be resized to?   The actual capabilities of the printer?

What are the Seagull drivers doing for me?

If I'm going to resize it beforehand, should I just use the normal Windows print driver instead of Seagull drivers?

If you embed an image to BarTender and change it's size (generally reducing it) to for example 50%, BarTender will save the original image and change its size each time a print job is done (or the document is opened). The driver will then process the image after BarTender modifies it.

BarTender uses LeadTools to process images (which is a black box to us) and we've found that sometimes when BarTender is the one resizing the image this kind of issue might occur (although rarely). That's why we generally suggest that the image is resized before embedding it to the BarTender document, so no size process is carried out on each print job.

*Note that drivers process the document information (including images) only after BarTender sends the document information to the driver, so they shouldn't be related to this issue at all.

**Also please note that on our latest release of BarTender we've updated the LeadTools component and solved many image related issues, so please do test this issue with BarTender v10.1:
