Combining User Data & Db Into A Single Gs1 Datamatrix
Recent changes to regulations have caused us to recreate our labels, and one of the new standards requires us to combine information into a single GS1 DataMatrix label. One of those fields comes from user input at print time, and the other two come from the database and are based on another input from the user.
Is it possible to combine these?

Hi there,
It sure is! You'll want to use multiple data sources (substrings) in a single DataMatrix barcode on your label.
Version 10:
Open the Properties for the barcode. At the bottom of the dialog, there's a toolbar, the first icon is the New Data Source button. If you click it, you can add a second data source and use the wizard to set the type (embedded would be user input vs. database field). For the user input data sources, enable Data Entry on the Transforms tab.
Prior to version 10:
Open the Properties for the barcode. On the Data Source tab, click the Advanced button. Use the toolbar to add multiple substrings and select the Source (type) for each one. Prompting (user input) can be activated using the More Options dialog.
Hope that helps!0 -
Jim, thank you for your reply.
I've followed your steps and it appears to have worked. I've got it out for testing right now and we'll see how it does.0
