Xml Or Csv

We are at the early stages of implementing BarTender, does anyone have any info which will help in the decision of using a CSV or XML file as a datasource? Developers are saying it will be faster for them to do csv and I want to be sure we are not tying our hands if we let them go down that route.

  Although BarTender supports XML, it is in the form of XML Script (commands and data), not as a database data source. You can use XML Script for automating BarTender via an external source, such as a third party application or our middleware Commander.
  
  If you're just wishing to supply BarTender with variable data (no additional parameters), using a CSV file is appropriate.
