The problem in using duplicate templates like this is that the label will be reimaged for each copy rather than specifying in print code to issue X number of copies of the proceeding label layout.  Performing batch printing (Batch Maker/BTXML/automation) would be the way around this, but then your templates would reside in different document files.

    Hi Ian,

Putting them into separate files is okay. I have them like this because each print request, whether it's for one material or many, has to be a set of the seven labels.

if I use batch maker, would I still get the normal pause between each label, or would they all hit the printer at the same time as a "7-label print job", so that they would print faster?

    Thanks!

You want it so that you're send the printer a full print job for all of your variable data labels as a single print job wherever possible.  Not separate print jobs for each and every label.
