Print Job Restarts After Server Reboot
I'm not sure where to ask this question, but here goes. We utilize BarTender Automation by dropping off a TXT file on a server, which then queue's up the print job to the appropriate Zebra ZT410 thermal label printer (with Seagull drivers). We are using the peel print mode. For those not familiar, the printer will kick out one label at at time. When the operator pulls that label out to use it, the next label prints and it waits again.
Sometimes we print larger quantities, like 500 labels. On Friday, the operator may only use up half of the 500 labels. The operator leaves for the weekend and returns on Monday. Over the weekend, the server reboots, but not the printers. Come Monday, the operator will continue using the rest of the labels. What happens is that the printer finishes printing out what's in it's buffer (maybe 14 more labels), and then the job restarts over. The operator may not know that the job restarted from label #1 again because of the peel mode.
Basically, it's restarting the print job over in the middle of the job because of the server reboot. Are there any tools to help avoid this from happening, or other suggestions?

It sounds like you need to try and reduce the size of the file being sent to the printer so that they can fit into the units memory awaiting the next print signal from the sensor.
You could try using the printer's resident fonts rather than True Type fonts for any fields that are variable between labels, such as sequential number fields or else if you have to use a True Type font such as Arial, download the font into the printer via the driver and so BarTender can call it up at print time. This was the label commands will be sent down as command strings rather than larger size graphic fields and so the unit will be able to buffer a lot more in it's memory.

Thank you for the reply Pete. I tried sending the fonts to the printer. It did not improve the buffer count. It's probably because of the barcodes that are on each label that are increasing the size of the prints. Any other suggestions or tools? Thank you.
