[Resolved] Clear Windows Printer Queue For Avery Printer

Dear support,

 

We are having a little problem with our infinite labeling project.

 

We have an Avery Printer with an applicator which will print a new label everytime the applicator gets activated. These labels are not all the same. We use serialization here to increase a number on the label.

 

The problem is, we sent that label 9999 times to the printer which only has a queue of 85. We have received commands from Avery which we can use to clear the printer's queue. The problem is that Windows is waiting to sent all the labels first before he takes his next printing job which would be the clearing. So the printer needs to print 9914 labels before he will clear.

 

I've read that this problem might be fixed in BarTender version 10 but we currently don't have the ability to upgrade to that version. Is there anyone who could help us out here? Thank you very much.

  1. Am I right in saying that your problem is that Windows still has the "infinite" print job hanging in the print queue because the printer buffer isn't able to receive the entire print job at once?
  2. How large is the print job (in Mb)?
  3. Please attach the BarTender document by making use of the "More Reply Options" button and now by attaching the file.
  4. Have you looked into a way of removing the print job in the print queue in an unattended way?

  Hello Domingo,

   

  I fixed the problem by putting the serialization on the text and barcode fields instead of the database field.

  So BarTender didn't see my 50000 serializations as 50000 different labels but as 1 job with 49999 repeats. And he did the serialization perfectly.
