Change Of Serial Number Based On Variable Componet
Our serial number is 19 digits long and made up of 8 distinctive sections.
Out of the 8 sections there is only 1 section that is variable and requires Data Entry. I have created the Data Entry and I have based my serialization section to increment based on the change of the data source. My issue is when the variable section changes they want the system to remember what the last serialized number was for that data entry.
Example:
011279 1 1 15 42 4 1 000001
The 3rd section is the data entry that could be either 1-9, the last section (000001) is the serialized data sources. If I have my operator use the Print Station and enter 1 for the data entry and prints 500 labels then the serial number will go to 000001 through 000500. When they open the Print Station again and change the data entry to 2 and prints 500 labels then the serial number will go to 000001 through 000500. The problem is when they open the Print Station for the 3rd time in the same day and enter 1 again they want the system to remember they printed 500 before so it should automatically start on 000501.
Is this possible?

What version/build of BarTender do you have? In more recent version/builds we modified Print Station so that it would automatically detect labels using serial numbers and thus update the document file with the new number. in older versions builds you have to save the entire document, which might not be desired behaviour.

We are using version 10.1
I did see in Print Station that it retained the last number and starts to increment from there but when there is a variable that can change and the serial number needs to change does Bartender retain that information?

Hmmm, I suggest you test and find out if it saves what you need.

If I remove the variable and just have a serial number with month, week, day of week and year included. They reset is set to reset based on the change of the day of week.
When using Print Station - if I print 500 serial numbers from 0001 to 0500. Close Print Station then open again in the same day shouldn't it start to print from 0501?
