Multiple Templates To Same Page With Commander?
Let me start with saying I'm a Technical Support Specialist and I know next to nothing about this application... I simply had this "Opportunity" thrown on my desk and I'd like to be done with this as soon as possible...
Also I'm not sure this is in the correct location on this forum... and I apologize if it's not correct.
Now with that in mind, I'll explain our scenario...
We have an engraver that we're going to be mass printing plates with. The range of printer (page size) is relatively large, each plate that it's engraving is roughly 4"x6", and it can do 12 of them (4 columns, 3 rows) at a time. Now I know Bartender can stop at the last job and print again at the next plate, but the printer is far more time efficient if it prints all 12 in one job. So I'd like to set up Commander to print after it's received the 12th data input file, or if possible have it setup as not a print but a queue where the user can simply press print when they are ready.
This also has contingencies... Each of the 12 labels are not all necessarily the same. While they are the same size, each plate could have a different background image template and naturally the data changes for each plate, but the positioning of the text also differs. Now the background template, and text location template can easily be specified within the csv-based text file that gets dumped in the folder that Commander will be monitoring. But I have little knowledge of Commander..
I'd like to know how to set it up to print only when it has 12 files ready to print and also to have it pick the proper text position template and background template based on what's specified in the input data file.
As it is right now, the user has CorelDraw and has made several vector based images as the background images, I don't know how to export those to a valid format that Bartender will work with...
We have the the Enterprise Automation edition. Can anyone guide me in the right direction here?

What you are wanting to do is possible through the use of document level VB scripting in BarTender to dynamically change and arrange your label/plate content during the the life of a single print job. See the below white paper introduction to the subject:

It should be noted that this is a fairly advanced feature in BarTender and will require a fair bit of technical (VB Scripting) knowledge.

Oh, one other thing, what's the best format to export the background image templates from Corel that will work with bartender and still support the vector based image?

Our support for vector image formats isn't great. You can try WMF or SVG, but if you have bad results use something like PNG. Ideally a bit map type file format at the resolution that you intend to print in, at a 1:1 scale, will give you the best print results.
