Gs1 Datamatrix: 50 Serial #'s In 1 Label
European standards are about to kick in and shake our world like a snow globe (happy holidays), and one of the things they're changing on us is that we're going to have to have a single label that has the individual serial numbers of up to 80 parts that are contained within the one box.
As a test, I took 50 random serial numbers (7 characters long) and threw them into a single string separated only by a comma and with 50 serial numbers the GS1 DataMatrix that printed out had to be 72x72 in order for it to show all of the information, but the image was just too big for all of our scanners. Is it possible to print that much data in into a single label that's not as big as the palm of your hand?

Does it all have to be in one barcode? Or just a bunch of barcodes on a sheet? A single barcode would have to be overly large to work with that much data, but if you can do it with a lot of smaller barcodes you can just set your layout to have multiple rows and columns, then print one piece of data on each, basically creating a master sheet for the numbers.0 -
We're waiting for clarification on that from Europe, but as far as we can tell in the information they've sent us it has to have all of the information in a single barcode. 0
