Auto Print From Different Access Database

A database that's connected to via ODBC or OLE DB cannot be dynamically changed either directly through automation, or via Commander.  Currently BarTender just does not work that way.  It is only possible to switch data files in these ways when the data file is a text file of some description.  I suggest they create some sort of macro in the Access database to export the data table/view as CSV data and send that via the WebEDI for detecting by Commander and printing by BarTender.

Unfortunately this's not possible. Try to push large car manufacturer into change of the exchange data format... Is this feature in the roadmap or the bartender "never" will work this way?

    EDIT:

Is possible to change the path to database (Access file) from user prompt? I don't know Bartender much but is possible to ask a user for file that they want to print? Ask for the source file? I must find the solution how users can print with bartender without changing the path in BT template.

    EDIT2:

I did some tests with Commander. I can print the Access file, but it's extremely uncomfortable. I must put the Access file with same name as I have in BT template for example test.mdb (this's OK) but with different extension - test.dat. Commander pick up the file, rename it to test.MDB and print it... It's awful and unusable for production. I can accept this solution if the commander can use the "normal" filename (test.mdb) and after printing the file will rename to anything or delete it. But as I see the commander work in different way...

Print station can do this but as I know, it can't delete the source file after printing... Maybe that's the only way. Not fine but at least it's working...

    Thank you for any suggestion.

    Hello,

    1. Have the different database files the exactly database field names?

    2. Do you need to print all the records from the database file or only a specific record? If you only need to print a specific record, can you let me know do you need to select this record?

    Thanks

    Hello,

    1. yes, it's exactly same database with the same structure. Just the data is different for each day.

    2. We're printing all records from the database

    Thank you
