"The format of the database in .... does not match the old database"

I have a label format with a database in an excel file. I have a second database in another excel file. The two files have identical field names and data types. When I go to the Database Connection Wizard to switch to the second file I get the message "The format of the database in .... does not match the old database". 

How can I just switch files, or find out why it thinks the two files don't have the same format ?

  I have the same error message. In my case, it's not even a different file - it changed location when we upgraded our network server, so I've had to update the filepath. The other difference is that we upgraded from BarTender 8.01 to BarTender 2022 and the data source is an Access query, which no longer seems to work.
