You need to use the Database Connection Setup option and then use the Wizard to select the type of database you are using and then what database. The settings will vary depending on the database used with some needing User/Password entry etc.

Once you Finished the link you can then configure a Filter to allow you to type/scan a value into an Input box and then that will perform a lookup for that value on the linked field (bottom image).

Once the label has been linked to the database, the fields will appear in the column on the left and if you are just using text fields you can just drag the field onto the label to add a database linked field. Alternatively you can go into the Properties of a field on the label and set the Type to Database and then choose which field to link to.

You could also use a Data Entry Form and add an Input Box that links to the Database filter/query so that appears on the form. Manual print time entry fields can also be added to this (such as for the number of labels or a batch number etc) and if you add an Image>Preview of Template you can add a dynamic preview onto the form which will update when you select the database product and type in manual information etc. This can be really useful to operators to see that they have selected the correct product and entered the right data before they start printing a batch of labels.
