Conditional Printing of Template

I'm trying to conditionally print a template where the "Print When" condition is being set by a value from a vbscript in a named data source. I've confirmed the data source is working correctly, but the template never prints. 

Alternatively, I tested the "Print When" property in the template properties page using a database field I knew would return a valid condition, and it still does not print.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
