Printing Under Citrix Xenapps

Hello,  Hope this is the correct location to post this question. 

 

    I am looking for some help with Bartender Label printing software when running under Citrix XenApp.  

    I went thru the the white paper for Citrix and Metaframe. 

 

Here is the layout of the process.  

 

    User1                                              user2

 

    Has access to a created                     Has access to a created

    btw file.  Same btw file.                     btw file. Same BTW File.  

 

 

                  Btw file is saved using a printer. (btw file is attached). 

 

 

  User1 and user2 are at different locations,  

 

    User1 runs their transaction              user2 runs his transaction and it goes to 

    and it goes to the correct printer.      user1's   printer.   

 

    I need to have user2's print document go to their printer.    Is there anyway to force user2 to there printer always. 

    There is default printer assigned.   Would there be any doc on how this works with Citrix.   One other

    kicker, is that there is a 3rd party that controls the interface to Bartender.   Software is Amtech.  

   From our Network/Security person,

     "it seems like citrix is giving the users the correct printers and default in other apps, so something appears to be overriding the citrix policy somehow"

 

Any help would sure be appreciated.

  1. How is Amtech exactly automating BarTender? Via our middleware software Commander, via our .NET SDKs... ?
  2. If you save the BarTender document (.btw) with the Windows default printer in use under the "File > Print" dialog, then the Windows default printer for the corresponding Citrix session will be used. Is that not the case?

  Thanks for the info,  

  This is the way I understand that Amtech uses the Bartender Interface,  Amtech creates a .dat file that gets passed along.   I believe it uses the command line process.  Amtech is not real sharing

  on their process.   

   

  We are going to try something with multiple Citrix sessions on different servers.

  We have a default printer, set and that is what is being used.   We really need to have default printers by users, and we were thinking the Citrix policies would set that.

  Please confirm: What integration method is being used between Amtech system and BarTender? 

   

  When automating BarTender, you can set the printer to be used at print time (if you know the exact name of the printer). Once I know the exact integration method being used, I could tell you how to set the printer name at print time...
