Reassigning All Labels To A Different Printer
Is there any way to run a script or program that could update or replace the name of the Zebra printer that was saved with the label format to a different networked Zebra printer?
We create our labels at a central location and have a master copy of each label format used at each location. When changes are needed we change and test the changes on our local network Zebra printer. When the label changes are approved, we then need to go into each label and change the printer the label used for testing and reassign it to the Zebra printer configured on the remote locations server and save the format again. We then copy the modified format to the Bartender label folder on the remote locations server where they use PrintStation to print the labels. Very time consuming changing and saving each format before copying the modified formats to the remote servers.
What we would really like to do is have all the locations label files that are stored here be set to print on our local Zebra printer. When it is time to refresh the formats at any of our locations, copy the whole locations folder of modified formats for a given location to their server then run some kind of program or script on the whole folder at the remote location to change the printer to their named local printer. Is this possible to do? If so how? It would save a tremendous amount of time when all formats need to be revised at any given location and new file proof copies created.
We are on Bartender 9.4 Automation edition.

Make sure that you design the labels for a Zebra printer with a Seagull driver in the first place, otherwise you might lose specific print settings or page setup configuration.
I suppose you best bet is to run a command line. For example:
"C:\Program Files\Seagull\BarTender Suite\bartend.exe" /AF="C:\Label Formats\MyFormat.btw" /PRN="MyZebraPrinter" /XS
The above command line will first call the BarTender application, open a named label format, set it to use a specific printer and then save and exit.
See the BarTender Help system for more information about command lines under the "Automating BarTender" help topic.
