Displaying Gs1 Expiry Date In Different Format For Human Readable Only
Here is what I want to do:
Display expiration date as a alphanumeric human readable.
GS1 barcode human readable reads as YYMMDD.
Is there a way to display this information without retyping it as alphanumeric MMM DD, YYYY without affecting the formatting on the barcode.
Hope this makes sense
Thanks in advance
IN SHORT:
I want my barcode to read YYMMDD but my human readable to ready MMM DD, YYYY.

Hi JordanM,
In BarTender 10.00 or later, you can re-format date to another format.
Have a text of TxDate: MMM DD,YYYY - (US English format)
In Barcode data source, use source as Object Value of TxDate, then in Transform tab, apply Date format of YYMMDD .
Once you could show both the barcode and the text, you can hide the human readable of the barcode.

Hi JordanM,

Can you help clarify?
How do i set the source of my new Date format to read from the Barcode? When i create a new text it only gives me the option to select the entire barcode as its "Object Value"

That's the other way around - create a text with date (can be MMM DD, YYYY format), then in the Barcode's date (YYMMDD) part, use the text's Object value as data source.

Simlar issue here. I have an expiration date in one part of the label in UK format (eg 27/09/15) and I want the same expiration date to show in the barcode in the correct format (is 150927).
If I change the format of one, it changes the other.
How can I have different formats at the 2 locations?

Have solved it. I had to connect the two fields using Data source Type: "Object Value" as detailed above.
