Error #1205 When Saving Old Format

I'm trying to fix 60 old Bartender 8.01 labels for a vendor who can't upgrade. They made quite a bad hash of everything, including typing in GS1 barcodes with parentheses that printed much too thin to scan.

 

I was able to download and use BT 9.3 as a demo on my computer so I can try to fix each file.

 

So I've got to fix and re-save files as 8.01 format. But too often when I save after editing, I get error 1205. I'm saving as a new file with a new name, but it still fails to save.

 

Are there features or functions I am not supposed to use in 9.3 so the files will save as 8.01? I've made some files that can save, but others that don't.

 

It's getting very tedious to recreate each of the files again and again, hoping that THIS time it REALLY DOES save. What can I do to avoid error 1205 from occurring?

  Can you tell me the syntax of the 1205 error or post a screenshot of the error message ? this does not seem to be a BarTender error so I need some further information on it.

   

  When we are saving a file make sure we are not using any restricted characters in the file name, Windows has restrctions on the following characters when saving a file :

  • < (less than)
  • > (greater than)
  • : (colon)
  • " (double quote)
  • / (forward slash)
  • \ (backslash)
  • | (vertical bar or pipe)
  • ? (question mark)
  • * (asterisk)

  Also make sure we are saving to a location that the logged in user has read and write permissions.

  I haven't had the error come back, so I can't give the exact dialog box.

   

  However, I'm trying to create a prompt for LOT NUMBER which will be printed on the label and also show up inside the barcode. I can link using substrings, but the prompt at print time doesn't work at all---the file prints with whatever default value it was set to.

   

  Is this because I'm using a demo version? So demo version can't use the prompts? I'm trying to create labels for people that have no clue how label printing is done, so having a must-fill prompt is required.

   

  I don't care if characters are scrambled, I just want to be sure that the prompt works properly, or the users at our other facility will print every label with a lot number of 0000000!
