The Automation and Enterprise Automation editions use License Server for printer based licensing. There is no option to turn off the licensing without affecting your ability to print.
It should be noted that the Basic and Professional editions are licensed per PC and thus do not use License Server. However, these editions lack features that you might be wanting to use from the higher editions.
