Printing Multiple Label Top Margin Overlaps Labels
Hi All,
I am having problem having printing multiple labels.
I have bartender "Single User Automation" version of BarTender. I have one .btw document with few fields. I am populating data and printing label using my C#.NET program.
While printing single label it is working fine.
For printing multiple labels, I am iterating through for loop. When I print it to XPS printer, i get all labels printed separately in good shape. No problem there too.
Problem occurs, when I start printing multiple labels to actual Barcode printer. First label get printed okay but at the end of that label another label get started printing. The non-printable paper space on barcode strip is blank and then remaining label get printed. This continues for all subsequent label printing.
When I print multiple copies of label through BarTender application, this problem doesn't occurs. It print perfectly fine.
I guess this might be issue of margin but not sure.

To which printer make and model are you printing to at print time? Have you installed a Seagull driver for this bar code printer? If yes, what version?
When creating the document design, make sure to specifically choose the printer you're going to use at print time (and not as the default Windows printer). Save the document with the correct printer selection.
If your label stock is "labels with gaps", and you're printing in Portrait orientation, make sure to set the top and bottom margins to 0. The printer's sensor will automatically calculate the gap for you. As top and bottom margins are set to 0, the label height = page height.
Furthermore, make sure to verify that the printer's gap sensor is properly calibrated (do the calibration either via the driver properties or directly from the printer if the option exists).

Printer is "intermec pd42 directprint USB". I have installed BarTender drivers. It is printing one label perfectly fine. Problem occurs while printing multiple one by one.
In my .NET code, I am providing list box option to select printer by operator and then loading my .btw file in memory. Then I assign selected printer to document.
Could you please let me know where can I set "label with gaps" property and how to use it?

The print settings is made in the BarTender document via the "Print" dialog, clicking the "Document Settings" button, and then making the setting under the "Stock" tab. Save the label when done. Info on calibrating the label sensor on the printer is found in your printer's operators manual. We don't make printers. Depending on the make/model, under the "Tools" tab of the printer driver properties you'll find a "Calibrate sensors" item under the "Action" button menu.

Hi All,

hongdida: not sure what you mean by "verified" solution, for what issue exactly are you referring to?
Note that all print registration issues are one of, or a mix of, the following:
- The printer's gap/mark sensors have not been properly calibrated for the label media in use.
- The application in use has specified an incorrect page size, that doesn't properly correspond to the label media in use.
- The printer driver settings are incorrectly configured for the label media in use.
- There is a mechanical fault, such as a worn rubberized platen roller in the printer that results in slippage, and inaccurate feeding of label media.

This is a very common issue when dealing with continuous label rolls or misaligned label formats, especially when using thermal printers from brands like Zebra, TSC, Printronix, CAB, and Citizen.
From our experience at AutoID Romania, there are a few key points to check:
1️⃣ Media Type Configuration: Ensure the printer is correctly set to "Labels with Gaps" or "Continuous" depending on your media. Misconfigured media sensing often causes top margin overlaps.
2️⃣ Label Size & Gap Settings: Double-check the label height and inter-label gap in both the driver settings and BarTender label format. Even a slight mismatch can cause overlap when printing multiple labels in a row.
3️⃣ Calibration & Sensor Adjustment: Perform a manual calibration on your printer to ensure it detects the label gaps correctly. Most Zebra, TSC, and CAB printers have easy-to-follow calibration steps via their control panels.
4️⃣ BarTender Template Margins: Make sure the top and bottom margins in your BarTender template are set correctly, and no "auto-fit" settings are forcing the print outside the label boundaries.
5️⃣ Driver & Firmware Update: Always verify that you are using the latest Seagull Scientific drivers for your printer model. Older drivers sometimes don’t handle margin offsets well.
