Bartender Could Not Connect To The Mail Server.
Hello,
I'm installing our recently purchased BarTender Automation Server and I'm trying to set up email alerts. I'm using SMTP, checked "Requires Authentication," using a user that I have set up specifically for email in Exchange 2010, and using our outgoing SMTP server address and port. I keep getting this error when I press "Test." It doesn't appear that it is really even trying to connect to the mail server, it just returns the error no matter what address I use.
As I mentioned, we are using Exchange 2010 as our organization's mail server.
I have several other server applications that are able to pass through via SMTP.
Anyone have any ideas what's going on?
Thanks!

It looks like there are multiple issues going on! My McAfee AV has a default setting to block programs attempting to send email other than Outlook and a few others. I added bartend.exe to the exception list and it seems to be now communicating. I have to work through more issues with authentication through our spam filter, but at least they are talking now.
I will keep posting until I get a resolution. Any feedback is still appreciated!

Thanks for the update. I've nothing to add at this time as the McAfee firewall was clearly the problem. Obviously you'll need to whitelist the emails in your spam filter too, which already you're on top of, so there's nothing much else to say.
