Not sure if the below will help:

1: In your Google Docs spreadsheet, click file, then Publish to the Web.
2: Open Excel 2010 (I cannot promise that this works in earlier versions, but you can try or Google it)
3: Click the "DATA" Tab on the top
4: There is a "Get External Data" section, click "from web"
5: Return to your spreadsheet in Google Docs, in the Publish to the Web box, start publishing, then look lower in the box, get a website link to your spreadsheet, copy it.
6: Return to Excel and paste the website into the address bar of the dialog box that opened when you clicked get data from the web
7: Click the check box that appears in the upper left of your website (in the Excel Dialog Box)
    8: Import.
    9. Connect BarTender to the Excel spread sheet.

Well that does work but was hoping for an easier solution.  We are now just downloading the file and placing it into a "holding" folder.  Users check the folder and then use print station to print them out.  Was hoping that print station could "see" the google docs without having to download file to "holding" folder.

It is half working since you will still need to refresh the excel source for records updated on Google sheet....

Are there plans to change this on upcoming versions?
