Why Do I Need To Reload Zebra 7.2.4 When Connecting A Different Printer?

    Hello Bill5335,

The reason why the Windows installer is appearing is because you connected two new devices through a USB port. When Windows sees these new devices it will automatically launch the Plug&Play wizard (to create a new USB virtual port for them) and will also launch the Windows' driver wizard to try installing these new devices. Unfortunately Windows identifies the ZDesigner drivers automatically as the "default" drivers for Zebra printers instead of our Seagull drivers.

This is an automatic response when connecting a new USB device on a Windows computer that we cannot avoid. Actually you really need the Plug&Play (P&P) wizard to appear so you can use the new device, but on this case you would need to cancel the automatic Windows driver wizard and launch our Seagull driver wizard instead (note that they are two different wizards) if you need to install our Seagull drivers.

In your case, as you already had drivers installed for this same printer model, you could simply open the driver properties and choose the new USB port that Windows has created for your new devices.

*Note that we don't really recommend this option, if you are going to change your computer's location you should indeed have as many drivers as actual printers you'll be using. This way you'll avoid changing the port in use each time you move your computer.

If you now need to remove the ZDesigner driver you can do it using our Seagull Driver Wizard (the application is called "DriverWizard.exe" and should be located on the folder where you unpacked our drivers, by default "C:\Seagull") and only then change the ports in use on your Seagull drivers; or if you wish to install two more drivers for these new printers launch our Seagull driver wizard again and use it to install them using the ports that Windows created for your printers.

    Thanks and regards.
