How To Find Record In Database

hi,

 

data entry form has field for item num, given user entered value, i need to find the matching record in the database.

 

1. how to access the data entry form field?

2. how to find the record the database and access the columns as well.

 

the database is loaded from a text file.

  hi!

   

  i don't know if this is the best way to do it. but i was able to resolve #1 by:

   

  Format.NamedSubStrings("<data source>").Value

   

  however, i need to access the other columns from that row.
