Help With Gs1-128 And Extra Digits
Hi All
I just have a bit of a question regarding using GS1-128 barcodes, my data stream is setup to send through a 20 character SSCC which is made up of all the information required for the GS1-128 type C barcode however when I create the barcode in BarTender I am always left with a trailing digit. So for example I have 00093309153022947829 being sent through. Using the GS1 application wizard I have told it to truncate the first 2 digits and use application id 00 on the front. However when I do this I am left with the barcode scanning as 0009330915302294782990 so that extra 90 is added on. How do I remove this suffix? Do I need to add in another identifier so that only the carton number of my SSCC is used at the end?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have only just started using BarTender so I'm not too sure what I need to do with it yet
regards
Andrew

The value "00" is for the application identifier of an SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code), this takes a data field of 18 digits. The first 17 digits are data, while the 18th is generated by BarTender automatically for the check digit. Therefore, in your example 00 will the data source for the application identifier, and 09330915302294782 will be for the field data. The value of "9" is generated for the check digit.
If your data field comes from a database field that includes the 00 prefix and 9 check digit, then just use the transforms tab of the data source to truncate these unwanted items. Remember the SSCC data field input should just be 17 digits.
