Comma Delimiters For Barcode Fields
Hello,
We are currently still using version 7.10 in a print only environment for the majority of our installations (which are standalone, no database connection). At the moment, we are in the process of updating some of our standard labels to include a bar code (code 128) which is linked to user input data. The intention for the barcode is to be scanned in weighing applications to pull the linked info. Simple right? Okay.
Our scale application that will be reading the scanned data requires that the barcode data fields be comma delimited (fixed length not suitable for our data). Is there a way to properly setup this up in this version without the need for a database and have the comma delimited fields configured for scanning? I saw some references to printer code templates but could not locate the options for that.

Sorry, but I really don't understand what you are trying to have BarTender do here.
It should be noted that new versions of BarTender offer direct support for a range of different weigh scales.
I think the Printer Code Template feature you mention was not an available function back in the days of BarTender v7.10.

Basically what we are trying to do is to have the scanned barcode data properly delimited so that it can be displayed properly on our scale terminal and also transmitted correctly into our sql database. I've uploaded a picture of the label to dropbox as a reference. Could not get it loaded here. The human readable text below the label shows how the text is currently run together for the fields included in the label. We would like to have the field data separated by commas. Have you considered using the character filter, with "Print Literal Characters" enabled?

Thanks for posting the image. We'll give that a try and see how it works.

That works to get the commas in but creates some other challenges for us with spaces. What we actually need is probably the suffix function that's present in version 10 (puts the commas in during print) so that the entire process is clean for the users. We'll be looking at the upgrade for that.
