Csv File As A Dta Source
I currently use Excel as my Data Source.
I have 3 columns of Data - Columns B, C & D
I concatenate the 3 columns into Column A and read the Data from Column A
If I create a csv File with just the 1 concatenated column, can I use it as a Data Source instead of the xls?
thanx

Hi Pervez,
In short answer, Yes.
To change database connection method from Excel to CSV, you need to remove current database connection from File > Database Setup, then add database as Text file : Mixed quote and Comma.
Besides you can concatenate columns in BarTender's text / barcode.
In object's datasource tab, click[Advanced] button at the right bottom to show substring list.
You can add a database field by [New] button in mini toolbar in left bottom.
(in 10.0 or later, you can add datasource from mini toolbar in left bottom.)0 -
I am a new user of Bartender and have created a simple test file in XL to use. It is a single column saved as .xlsx file.
I am getting an error stating that it is an incorrect data type. Should I be only using CSV or tab delimited files created in excel?
Thanks

Hi Bud,
You might have mixed data type column problem - which described in a PDF attachment in post below.
