Print Label And Record Data
Hi there,
I have a label that is used to track pallets of goods within a warehouse, it has simple information like the serial number, color, etc, this information is scanned off of a label on each item which includes multiple barcodes. I would like to be able to have the information that is scanned ,end up in an excel database as well as going into the blank fields to print each label. I am not sure this is possible, but thought I would see if anyone else has had experience with anything like this, or knows a good work around. I would prefer not to have to scan any more times than necessary, and more importantly, don't want our workers to have to toggle back and forth between BT and Excel.
Please let me know if what I am trying to do needs more clarification.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
-Miguel

Hello Mthomas,
You could "log" the printed information back to a database through a VB script in your label. Attached you'll find a very simple example that uses a VB script to read and update a serial number from an Access database (I'm afraid I can't attached the actual database, but it's a very simple Access file named "serial.mdb" with only one field and record, see the attached image).
In any case, please note that BarTender is able to log all printed information to our BarTender System Database (which is an SQL database instance), which can later be retrieved by our companion applications History Explorer and Reprint Console.
Unfortunately you'll need the Automation edition of BarTender to use our system database.
Regards.
