Export Label Data From Bartender Then Import To Access

I have an Access DB for warehouse inventory. I use the "get external data" procedure to import bar code scans from an Excel file generated by the MC9190 Windows Mobile scanner. Up until now I have only had to worry about scanning bar codes that were already on the individual pallets and importing the file to generate the shipping docs as well as update the database.

 

We now have the need to generate labels with bar codes and text for a different customer and apply them to the pallets (as opposed to scanning existing labels). I want to know if the act of generating or printing the labels based on existing DB fields (using data entry in Bartender?) can at the same time generate an Excel file of all data for a particular batch or session.

 

I guess another way to look at it would be if I printed a batch of labels for a receipt of goods and then scanned each bar code and imported the data like I do with existing pallet labels like my example above. Seems like I should be able to capture the label data without the extra step of scanning the newly printed labels.

 

Hope this make sense to someone. Any help would be appreciated.

  Hello Len,

   

  1. With our Automation edition or higher the use of our BarTender System Database (BT-SDB) becomes available. This will allow the user to log the printed data information (including image of the printed labels if specified as such) in the BT-SDB that can be later accessed through our companion application History Explorer or Reprint Console. 

   

  2. Another option to capture the printed barcodes or labels as images (although won't generate a database from it) would be to export them using our .NET SDKs. For that purpose you can use one of the following methods:

   

  ExportPrintPreviewToFile exports a print preview of the label.

   

  ExportImageToFile exports a thumbnail image.

  Just wanted to say that I had not used or really had a need to use Bartender since about 1994. It was a great application then and the the features of the newest version are fantastic and easy to use.
