Label void when user data other than 8 bits hexadecimal

According to instructions from our customer, we are supposed to be able to add User data into the tag to show the part number of the item being labeled. Their part numbers are typically 11 digits long and they claim in their instructions that the part number can include spaces between the numerical digits in the RFID coding. The only ability I've found to successfully print the label without "voids" is to set the data type for the user block as hexidecimal and hold the part number (referenced from a spreadsheet) to 8 continuous alpha-numeric digits - no spaces, no larger number of digits.
Is there a way to use something other than hexidecimal? I've tried "text" as a data, but it fails. And/or is there a way to increase the block size of the user data? The spec sheet for the labels claims having "up to 688 bits" for User Memory, but I can't find anywhere inside Bartender to open up more than "16 bits"
Thanks in advance - Don
