Print station is really slow
As the title says. Our users are complaining that print station takes about 30-40 seconds to just start.
We are running PrintStation on a Windows server 2019, 4 core 2.10 ghz cpu and 16gb of ram.
I have tried disabling check certificate revocation and checking if our .net version is up to date(it is). Is there anything more I can try?

Hello Bas,
Thank you for reaching us via our Community Forums.
When you mention your users complaining that Print Station is slow to start, could you clarify what you mean? Is the application slow to start printing, to open, or in general?
Also, could you tell us what BarTender version, edition, and service release are you currently using? We would recommend updating BarTender to the latest service release in case you are not using the most up-to-date patch of our software, as these revisions usually do away with bugs and fix software stability issues. You can find the BarTender installers for updating BarTender here.

Hello Xabier,
This is mainly about starting the app, it takes about 30-40 seconds for the app to start.
After that it works fine, but our users are complaining about the startup time.
We are using Bartender 2022 11.3/184527 (64-bits), I will try updating and see if it helps.

We had the same issue. 40-60 seconds to startup Print Station.
Tried 2022, then 11.3. Same issues.
Rolled entire installtion (40 printers) back to v2021.
20 plus years on Bartender… now looking at other options.

I agree the startup performance is slower than the previous versions but does not seem to be an issue whilst the app has started.
As a thought, with access to 2022 and afterwards (presumably with Maintenance) have you considered going down the Print Portal route? Again it is slightly slower than the old 2021 Print Station, but other than the server (and for any users who need design capability locally) there wouldn't need to be any local installs of the software to install/maintain.
Print Portal used to be Enterprise edition exclusive but from one of the early R releases of 2022, this was added as a feature for both Automation and Professional installs too.

We're finding this affects a number of our customers. Have you tried actioning tests within Bartender Designer to print your labels?
This will, for certain, ascertain where the issue lies. i.e. if it's still slow, then the database connections are the issue. But if it's like lightning, then Print Station is definitely the bottleneck. We've designed our own version of Print Station that integrates with Bartender to alleviate the issues and we have no issues with speed (mainly because we control it)
Bartender as the engine doesn't seem to be the problem, more just the Print Station application.
If anyone would be interested in a conversation about this solution, that keeps your current Bartender instance but provides you with a printing UI that works, let me know - sales@kelgray.co.uk

I have found the latest Bartender 12.0.1 to be faster than our previous version. It is also faster than 12.0.0.
