Creating label design for manufacturer/supplier

I have bought Bartender Automation to the company where I work. We are trying to integrate Bartender labels into our production flow, and in house everything is working great.
I design the templates on the PC with the printers connected and it is working like a charm.
However, if I need to make a change to the template design, I would like to be able to do this from my own PC. But every time I open the label file, it comes up with an error saying that the printer cannot be found, and that it will choose the default printer. When I have updated the design and save the file, the bloody printer is saved along with it, and when someone in production is trying to print the label, it is not printing, or it is printing on our office printer in A4 sheets.
To fix this, I must open the template file on the PC with the correct printers connected, change the printer and settings, and save again.
This is a huge pain the a** but it can be handled rather easy in house.
The big problem comes when we want to outsource the product, and have our manufacturer to print the labels themselves, and stick them om the final products, before shipping them to us.
I have no idea how their printer is connected, and I have no possibility of making a template design on a PC connected to their PC.
Is there a way to create a label design printer independently?
This must be a common problem, but so far, I haven’t been able to find anything useful. How does everyone else solve this problem?

I did this for a similar issue: Create a batch file (.btbat) using batch maker and select it to override the printer to your production printer. Have production use that file to print. This will allow you to edit on your computer but still control the selected printer. There's a couple other options as well, but this likely will be the simplest.

Arh ok, so the page setup is practically irrelevant, as long as the template fits the labels? - If using this method ofcourse.
I will try it out.
If anyone else has another idea, I would love to hear it still.
